Lawmakers Vote For More Protection For Pets

By Newsradio WHAM 1180
Mar 13, 2018

The New York State Senate voted Monday to extend orders of protections to pets.

The Family Court Act would be changed to include pets. A court could order a party to give up a pet or stay away from the animal.

Lawmakers proposed the legislation to help victims of domestic abuse. The court could prevent the abuser from any contact with the victim's pet.
