Seneca Park Zoo says its 28-year-old female polar bear, Aurora, died this week after a recent serious decline in her health.
She was euthanized and a post-mortem revealed she had a deteriorating liver and compromised gall bladder.
Aurora had been at the zoo since 1991, when she was 2 years old. She was the mother of four cubs over the years, all now at other zoos. Her mate died in 2016.
