Governor Cuomo is announcing a new street lights program for cities across the state.
It's called "Smart Street Lighting NY" and calls for at least a-half-million conventional lights to be replaced by LED technology over the next seven years.
He says the initiative will reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and improve community safety. Cuomo also says the program will save New York taxpayers 87-million-dollars a year.
