Funding through New York State’s Upstate Revitalization Initiative is helping expand the Child Care Subsidy Program in Monroe County.
County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced that people who enroll in a pre-approved job training program, will get reimbursements for child care through the county’s Department of Human Services.
Dinolfo says the goal is to ease the burden of child care costs and help families pursue new employment opportunities in higher paying industries.
The reimbursement will be given to participants for the duration of their job training program and for up to three months following its completion, so they have enough time to land a job.
To be eligible participants must have at least one dependent child under the age of 13, have a household income of less than 275% of the federal poverty level, and be enrolled in any approved training program that is expected to yield full-time employment in a sector currently in-demand or supported by other Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council projects.
