Task Force Looking into Reducing Environmental Impact of Plastic Bags

A task force looking into reducing the environmental impact of plastic bags is recommending either making shoppers pay a fee for the bags, or an outright ban.

The proposals now go to the governor and the state legislature.

The bags are a source of litter and are harmful to wildlife. People in the state use an estimated 23 billion plastic bags per year.
