A Greece woman who came back from a Christmas trip to Florida to discover two wheels missing from her car has been issued a refund from Monroe County after she was charged $168 for parking in the airport garage. Heather Evans tells 13 WHAM she paid $16 dollars a day to park in the garage and returned to find the passenger-side wheels missing from her Cadillac Escalade. A police report says Mapco Parking, which manages the long-term parking garage, doesn't provide security, and Monroe County deputies were patrolling it irregularly. Airport Director Andy Moore says this is a rare occurrence. Evans had parked in an area where the garage surveillance cameras don't have a view. Her car was propped up on a cinder block, and Evans says they must have driven in with it and taken some time to take her wheels off. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says it will now step up patrols of the parking garage. The county has processed a refund of the parking fees and says Evans is eligible to file for a damage claim.
