There may be a deal to reunify divided Democrats in the state Senate in Albany.
Nine breakaway Democrats have been sharing control of the Senate with Republicans since 2011, but at least eight of them would rejoin the other Democrats after the next budget is approved in the spring.
If the ninth does as well, Democrats would retake control of the Senate. But the deal could fall through if the party runs primary challengers against the independent Democrats.
Democrats already control the state Assembly.
