A Lyons man has been charged with four counts of assault in a beating that caused the death of another man in Wayne County. Newark Police have charged Lorimus Desius in the September beating and later death of 27-year-old Frederick Thomas III. Police say the two men got into a fight over a ride to a party. Desius allegedly continued to punch Thomas even after the other man tried to break off the fight. Eventually he fell backwards and struck his head on the pavement, fracturing his skull. Thomas died four days later at the hospital. Desius was already in jail when he was arrested on a criminal weapon charge.
