Baxter defeats O'Flynn in race for Monroe County Sheriff

Republican incumbent Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn was defeated by Democratic challenger Todd Baxter in Tuesday's election. The race brought many voters out to the polls in Monroe County. O'Flynn had held the position of sheriff for the last 16 years. Baxter served as police chief within the Greece Police Department, then as Executive Director of the Veterans Outreach Center before retiring. Baxter said as sheriff, he would be more "out in front" on issues such as the opioid crisis.
