First Charges Filed in Russia Election Meddling Probe

Paul Manafort, a former campaign chairman to President Donald Trump and Rick Gates are the first to be charged in the investigation into Russian meddling in the United States’ 2016 presidential election.  Gates is a longtime business associate of Manafort, having worked together since the mid-2000s. The FBI had executed a search warrant at Manafort’s Virginia home at the end of July .The arrests come three days after news broke that a federal grand jury in Washington had filed the first charges stemming from Mueller’s investigation.
