Slaughter Says Funding For Transportation at Risk

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter stood by Rochester’s Inner Loop this afternoon and claimed President Trump’s budget will eliminate the federal program that paid for its renovation.

The Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery or TIGER grant program was one of the economic incentives created to help stimulate the economy and put people to work during the recession. A near $18 million TIGER grant funded much of the project that filled in the Loop and created a surface street on the East End of downtown. Another grant helped fund the new train station.

Slaughter says that’s bringing economic redevelopment to Rochester, but  future projects would be cut off by the Trump budget.
