State police say the pursuit that ended last night in the city, began when Rochester police officers saw a vehicle speeding -- and with headlights off -- on Joseph Avenue.
State Police say Rochester police broke it off -- but troopers saw the vehicle and followed the driver for less than 4 minutes to the Monroe Avenue/Woodlawn Street area.
State Police say suspect Jerry Ferguson ditched the car and ran, and a trooper fired a shot -- though it's not clear yet why.
Authorities say Ferguson has a criminal background and was on probation.
