Driver Charged With BWI After Boat Crash in Hamlin

The driver of a boat that crashed into a pier on Lake Ontario Monday night has been charged. Matthew Trippi, 27, of Hamlin, was charged with boating while intoxicated.

Investigators say the boat hit a pier in Hamlin near the Brockport Yacht Club around 9:30 p.m. Deputies say one passenger was ejected into the water when the boat hit the pier. According to deputies, the other three occupants jumped into the water after the crash because the boat started to sink. Two passengers were taken to Strong Hospital for precautionary measures. Another passenger was not injured. Deputies say Trippi was not injured.
