Bills trade Watkins and Darby

Orchard Park, NY- The Buffalo Bills shocking the fan base with a pair of big trades Friday afternoon.  

Buffalo is sending former first-round pick Sammy Watkins, as well as a sixth-round pick in the 2018 draft, to the Rams for cornerback E.J. Gaines and a second-round pick in the 2018 draft.  Watkins will be reunited with former teammate Robert Woods, who signed with Los Angeles in the offseason.

The Bills also agreeing Friday to deal cornerback Ronald Darby the Philadelphia Eagles.  Coming back to Buffalo will be receiver Jordan Matthews and a third-round pick in 2018.

Darby was selected by the Bills in the second round in in 2015.  He was the first selection in the draft for Buffalo though, as then General Manager Doug Whaley traded their first-round pick in 2015 in order to move up to selection Watkins in 2014.


The Bills are now loaded with early draft picks for 2018, with two picks in each of the first three rounds.

-Chiefs pick (acquired in 2017 draft trade when K.C. moved up from 27 to 10.  Bills picked CB Tre'Davious White at 27.)

2nd Round
-Bills original pick
-Rams pick (acquired in Watkins trade)

3rd Round

-Eagles pick (acquired in Darby trade)
