The Greece daycare operator accused of fatally injuring a toddler in her care in 2001 has accepted a plea deal rather than get a new trial.
Rene Bailey's murder conviction for the alleged shaken baby death of 2-and-a-half year-old Brittney Sheets was thrown out two years ago.
Prosecutors planned to try Bailey again, but she pleaded guilty today to an assault charge.
Bailey is not expected to serve any more prison time. She had served 12 years behind bars before her conviction was overturned on the grounds that recent science gave credence to her claim the child was hurt in a fall.
