Breaking: Rochester Police Officer Shot

A Rochester police officer was shot in the head on Saturday night.  The shooting happened in the area of Clifford and Hudson Avenues. Police Chief Michael Ciminelli said the officer was wounded near the face. Police say 36-year-old Jeremy Nash was awake and alert at Rochester General Hospital after the incident. The wound was not life-threatening. Officer Nash was responding to a call when he was shot.  City officials said Mayor Lovely Warren and Deputy Mayor Cedric Alexander were made aware of the situation and went to RGH. At this point no arrests have been made, but police are searching a large perimeter.  New York State Police launched a helicopter to search the area. Chief Ciminelli said Officer Nash is assigned to Clinton Section. He is an 11-year veteran with a 3-week-old baby at home.
