Self-driving cars are one step closer to New York state roadways after getting their first spin yesterday.
The governor's office says an Audi sedan traveled more than six miles through the streets and highways of Albany, on automation.
Acting DMV commissioner Terri Egan joined engineers for the test-drive. Audi says it's trying to lay groundwork beyond the one-year testing period. It compares the technology to the kind used by airlines, while noting commercial planes still have two pilots.
