Both major ride-hailing services plan to be operating in Rochester -- and other upstate cities -- on June 29th.
That's the earliest possible date under the law signed this week by the governor moving up the start date. Lyft says it’ll will begin operations on the 29th, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be ready to start offering rides on that date.
Uber also says it’s starting on June 29th. Both companies are hiring thousands of drivers and waiting on local governments to announce their regulations for ride-sharing services.
