State Police Cracking Down on Speeding During 'Speed Week'

State police are cracking down on lead foot drivers as part of "Speed Week."

Governor Cuomo says through June 13th, state troopers will be using both marked and undercover cars to stop speeding and aggressive drivers who are putting others at risk on the roads.

Cuomo notes more than 42,000 people die in traffic crashes each year across the country, and speeding is listed as a contributing factor in nearly one third of all fatal crashes in New York.

He says last summer's speed week effort ended with more than 21,000 traffic tickets, and about half were for speeding or distracted driving.
