Monroe Community College is raising tuition for the fall semester.
The MCC trustees have approved a $180 bump for full-time, in-state students for the next academic year. That’s a four percent increase.
The increase raises tuition for full time students to $4,280. But the trustees won't apply the tuition hike next year for students who complete their MCC education in two years.
MCC President Anne Kress says the increase is partly due to declining enrollment -- bringing with it a reduction in state funding. She also doesn’t know what impact Governor Cuomo’s free tuition program will have. Kress believes about 1,000 MCC students will qualify in the fall.
