There's new hope for Penfield and other towns looking to regulate where sex offenders can live.
Penfield's proposed restrictions were put on hold by an appeals court. But a bill to restore local control over housing restrictions for sex offenders has passed the state Senate and is pending in the Assembly.
If the bill becomes law, Penfield's regulations can take effect.
The Town of Penfield has created an online petition for residents who wish to express support for the state legislation.
