Voters in Pittsford School District Reject District's Proposed Budget

Voters in the Pittsford school district have rejected the district's proposed $134 million budget.

About 53 percent of the nearly 7,000 voters voted "Yes," but the budget needed a 60 percent majority because it would have exceeded the state's property tax cap.

The district planned to use the additional revenue to fund full-day kindergarten. The district plans to hold another vote June 20.

The district could either modify the budget proposal, or put the same budget on the ballot. Meanwhile, all other area school budgets up for votes yesterday were approved.
