Lawmakers are pushing again for legislation giving local communities a voice on where sex offenders can live.
The legislation would change a court ruling that says only the state can make that determination. The bill cleared the state Senate again this week.
State Senator Rich Funke is calling for the Assembly and the governor to get behind the bill. It's of particular concern in Penfield, where a Level 3 sex offender was placed in 2015 within 200 feet of a park where children play.
