Area law enforcement officials took part in a joint news conference in Rochester this morning to announce their participation in what they call "a new sex offender management and community notification tool."
The tool is a database called "Offender Watch," which gives residents a way to find out when a sex offender moves into their neighborhood.
The website lets citizens search for potentially dangerous sex offenders and predators, which may be in close proximity to their homes, places of work, schools, churches and day care centers. The information is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Citizens can access the OffenderWatch® registry in both Monroe County and Livingston County. The links have been posted below.
