State Comptroller Says Audit Has Uncovered Problems In RCSD

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says an audit has uncovered problems in the Rochester City School District.

DiNapoli says the district's payroll processes are disorganized, decentralized and not administered uniformly, resulting in costly errors. And he says the audit also found problems with how the district managed its purchases.

He says the district needs to "substantially overhaul" how it is managing payroll and purchasing.

Auditors reviewed salary and wages paid to 45 workers and found incorrect or unsupported payments made to nearly all of them.

District officials indicated they planned to take corrective action.
