The City of Rochester is announcing plans for a theater and apartment building at Parcel 5 at Midtown.
The Golisano Center for the Performing Arts and Tower would be built on the lot along East Main Street. It would include a 3,000 seat theater, street-level shops and restaurants, 150 apartments and additional parking.
It's a joint venture between developer Morgan Communities and the Rochester Broadway Theatre League.
Mayor Lovely Warren says the project will mean 610 construction jobs and 166 permanent jobs, and reinvigorate the city center.
Billionaire Tom Golisano is putting up $25 million. The state and the theater league must each put up similar amounts.
