Henrietta, NY -- Authorities are throwing the book at the Rochester man suspected of stealing two vehicles and attempting a dangerous getaway in Henrietta.
Kevin Simpson is being charged with first degree robbery, reckless endangerment, attempted reckless assault upon a police officer, possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a vehicle, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and petit larceny.
Deputies say Simpson dumped a stolen car at a Gates gas station Thursday morning, stole a Jeep there that had been left running, and hours later struck a deputy who approached the Jeep in a Henrietta parking lot. After ditching the Jeep, he fled inside a beauty school and was arrested hiding in a closet.
Bail has been set at $50,000.
