RCSD Budget Proposal Unveiled

Members of the Rochester City School Board are beginning work on Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams' $791 million budget for the next school year.

Her plan would cut costs at the main office and add 144 teacher positions to boost graduation rates.

For now, the proposed budget projects a nearly $18 million shortfall -- based largely on Governor Cuomo's proposal to unfreeze tuition rates for charter school students. If that proposal is rejected in Albany, the shortfall would be much smaller.
