NYS Replacing "I Love New York" Signs Knocked Down in Windstorm

The state is replacing "I Love New York" signs knocked down in Western New York by the windstorm.

The signs remain a point of contention because the Federal Highway Administration has deemed the signs illegal and called for them to come down but the state has yet to comply.

Only eight signs along the Thruway were knocked down but replacing them could be costly. More than a billion-dollars in federal funding is on the line if the state doesn't come to an agreement with the feds on these signs.
