The Thruway near Syracuse is closed in both directions after multiple vehicles crashed in an area where high winds and blowing snow were causing whiteout conditions.State police say Interstate 90's westbound lanes just west of Exit 39 were closed around 7:45 a.m. Thursday. The Thruway Authority says the eastbound in the same area have been closed by another multi-vehicle accident.There are reports of at least one person injured after about 10 westbound vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash just west of Syracuse.Troopers say whiteout conditions were reported in the Syracuse area around the time of the crash.
