Irondequoit Police Officer charged with stalking

Irondequoit, NY- An Irondequoit Police Officer is facing federal charges after prosecutors say he harassed and tormented an ex-girlfriend for nearly a year.

The U.S. Attorney's office says last February the victim broke off a three-year relationship with 50-year-old William Rosica. From March 2016, until February 28, 2017, Rosica is accused of sending a barrage of harassing text messages, phone calls and emails to the victim.

The victim's work email account and online medical system also had numerous unauthorized access attempts, and they Rosica also targeted the victim's ex-husband and co-workers.

Rosica is charged with stalking and unlawful access to a protected computer.  He could see up to five years in prison, and a fine of up to $250,000.

Irondequoit Police Chief Richard Tantalo & Town Supervisor David Seeley issued a joint statement:

"We will await the results of the criminal proceeding.  In the interim, we have commenced the disciplinary actions necessary to place Officer Rosica on unpaid administrative leave."
