A former Attica Correctional Facility inmate has been convicted in the attack on a guard there.
45-year-old Michael Nero was found guilty of 2nd-degree assault.
Prosecutors say Nero went after the officer in November 2023, during a search for weapons.
Nero was serving a 15-year sentence for burglary and assault at the time.
He now faces 5 to 25 years in prison when he's sentenced next month.
