Rochester police have an arrest in the murder of a homeless city woman, whose body was found on a downtown sidewalk earlier this month.
31-year-old Tavontay Heygood-Session has been charged with second degree murder for causing the death of 46-year-old Karen Wargo.
Police found surveillance video of Heygood-Session assaulting and kicking Wargo at the corner of North Clinton Avenue and Pleasant Street on July 9th.
Officers found him the next night checking out parked cars on East Main Street. He became agressive when approached by officers and was placed on mental hygiene detention.
He was arrested on the murder charge after being released from the hospital.
Heygood-Session has three prior felony convictions and four misdemeanor convictions, including on an attempted arson charge for trying to set fire to a house with children inside.
His sentencing on that charge is currently pending.
