UPDATE: A Rochester man has pleaded not guilty to charges in a shootout with police at a home on Norton Street.

A suspect is in custody, after an overnight exchange of gunfire on Norton Street in Rochester.
Police Chief David Smith says they responded to the home on a shooting report.
He says a suspect fired a shotgun at officers.
One returned fire, but no one was hit.
Another officer shot an agressive pit bull that was keeping officers from investigating.
The name of the suspect has not been released.
One officer slipped and broke his ankle.
