Firefighters in Los Angeles are making progress against multiple wildfires, but over 100,000 residents remain under evacuation orders. At least 11 people have died in the fires, and officials warn that the death toll may rise. The Palisades Fire, which has burned 22,660 acres, is 11% contained and continues to threaten areas like Encino, Brentwood, and the Getty Center. The Eaton Fire in Altadena is 15% contained, having burned 14,000 acres.

High winds and dry conditions are expected to persist, complicating firefighting efforts. The National Weather Service has forecasted gusty winds through the weekend, which could exacerbate the situation.

The fires have destroyed more than 12,000 structures, making them among the most destructive in California's history. As the situation unfolds, officials remain vigilant and prepare for the potential return of strong winds early next week.

"A FIRE WEATHER WATCH will begin at 6:00 PM tonight and will remain in effect through 6:00 PM Sunday night," Cal Fire said. "Moderate to strong Santa Ana winds are likely to return Tuesday and Wednesday, creating critical fire weather conditions."

Officials announced that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives will lead a new investigative task force to determine the cause of the Palisades Fire.
