Bodycam Video Released of Greece Inmate's Beating Death

New York Attorney General Letitia James says her office is conducting an exhaustive investigation of how a state prison inmate from Greece came to be fatally beaten by corrections officers at the Marcy Correctional Facility in Oneida County.

James first viewed the videos with the Brooks family.

They come from a sergeant and three officers involved in the beating.

They show graphic scenes of Brooks being dragged into a medical exam room and beaten by officers with hands, fists and a boot.

The 43-year-old Brooks was beaten on December 9th, and died December 10th in a Utica hospital.

Attorney General James says the video, which is without sound, is shocking and disturbing.

She says it does not reflect the majority of New York's corrections officers.
