UPDATE: RPD Says Rochester Apt. Fire Was Intentionally Set, Reward Offered

UPDATE: Rochester police now confirm a three-alarm fire on Rochester's north side -- was intentionally set.

And they're offering a $5,000 reward for informaiton that leads to an arrest.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. yesterday at an apartment house on Portland Avenue, north of Norton Street.

RPD Captain Frank Umbrino says several people spread accelerant around the home, while a 5-year-old boy and his babysitter were inside.

The boy is still fighting for his life at the hospital.

Two injured firefighters are now recovering at home.

There is no word yet on the cause of a three-alarm fire overnight on Rochester's north side, but the Major Crimes Unit is investigating.

It broke out around 2 a.m. at an apartment house on Portland Avenue, north of Norton Street.

A five-year-old child was rescued by a firefighter and was taken to a hospital.

the child has critical injuries.

There is also a report of an injury to a firefighter.
