An 18-Year-Old Faces Gun Charges Following Incident at Tops In Penfield

An 18-year-old Penfield man has been charged with menacing and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon after an incident last night behind the Tops Supermarket on Penfield Road.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says Thomas McMindes pulled out a gun during an argument and threatened a juvenile, who then grabbed the gun. The juvenile got control of the weapon, removed the magazine and fired the one shot in the chamber into the ground. Nobody was injured.

Sheriff's Investigators searched McMindes' home and found two 9 millimeter ghost guns, including the one used in the incident, plus ammunition. McMindes is being held on $25,000 bail.
