Officers Who Exchanged Gunfire With Suspect in Henrietta Identified

The deputies who exchanged gunfire with a man at a Henrietta restaurant last week have been identified. Deputies Nicholas Cooper and Mary Wegma traded shots with 33-year-old Alonzo Jones at Carabba's Italian Grill on West Henrietta Road Thursday night. No one was hurt. Sheriff Todd Baxter calls the deputies "heroes" for their response, while also crediting restaurant staff for evacuating patrons safely. Jones remains held without bail on charges including a gun crime and the attempted assault of a police officer.
