Rochester Man Has Been Convicted of Murder

A jury has convicted a 38-year-old Rochester man in the murder of Jose Ubiles Melendez, who was shot in the head at a house on Bay Street in August 2019.

Defendant Luis Rios Morales was also convicted on weapon and drug charges.

Morales was identified early on as a suspect, and an investigation involving the Greater Rochester Area Narcotics Enforcement Team concluded in Spring 2020.

Morales was arrested, and raids turned up a number of handguns and long guns, plus drugs and 10-thousand dollars in cash.

Nine other defendants were arrested with Morales.
