Gov. Hochul Unveils $216 Billion Budget

Governor Hochul laid out her vision for the state's financial future today with her executive budget.

She says the $216 billion plan does not create recurring expenses or programs that the state can't afford.

The budget includes $2 billion for coronavirus pandemic recovery initiatives.

It also sets aside $4.5 billion for clean energy including offshore wind.

The budget calls for a record-high $31 billion in school aid.

There's also money for opioid addiction services, childcare, and tax credits for small businesses for COVID expenses.

Hochul will have to work closely with leaders in the state Senate and Assembly to get a budget finished ahead of the April 1st deadline.
