RCSD Has Outlined Plans to Close Some Schools and Combine Others

Rochester School Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small has outlined plans to close some schools and combine some others, before the start of the next school year.

Some buildings are aging and others are underused.

Under the plan, the Leadership Academy for Young Men in Charlotte would close. The Northeast College High School would move to that building.

The current schools 7 and 53 would close.

The RISE Community School would move to the Number 7 campus.

School 29 would move to school 19. And school 25 would move to school 39.

The district is planning public meetings to discuss the details and a public hearing is set for December 15.
