Penfield Man is Going to Prison for his Part in a Fake Diamond Business

Federal prosecutors say a Penfield man is going to prison for eight months and paying $170,000 in restitution for his part in a fake diamond import-export business.

57-year-old Brian Schumacher was accused of conspiring with others to defraud investors living in Massachusetts and California out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The money was to be used by Integra Diamonds of Rochester to buy diamonds in Africa.

The conspirators did buy some diamonds, but sold them and kept the money without returning a share of the proceeds to the investors as promised.
