Former Rochester Police Chief Announces for Congress

Former Rochester Police Chief La'Ron Singletary is running as a Republican in Rochester's 25th Congressional District...challenging two-term Democratic Incumbent Joe Morelle next year.

Singletary has been courted by Monroe County Republicans since he was fired by Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren last year -- for allegedly keeping the mayor in the dark about the death of Daniel Prude. Singletary is suing the city for defamation and says on the contrary, it was the mayor who ordered him to lie about the incident and he refused.

Today, he pledged to work for good policing and safe neighborhoods, saying he's talked to many people across the Rochester community and they don't support "Defund the Police." Singletary said he will work together with all parties to find solutions to the problems of violence and shootings in the community.

Singletary was introduced by former Republican State Senator Joe Robach, who called him a man of faith, integrity and deep roots in our community.
