$14 million Announced for Monroe County to Combat Opioid Crisis.

State Attorney General Letitia James has announced $14 million for Monroe County to combat the opioid crisis.

The money comes as part of a settlement James negotiated in a 2019 lawsuit against opioid manufacturers and distributors.

James says between 2010 and 2020, opioid deaths in Monroe County increased by 30 percent.

In the 12 months from the start of the pandemic in March 2020 to March this year, New York State saw a 28 percent increase in drug overdose deaths.
