NYS To Look Into School Bus Driver Shortage

Governor Kathy Hochul says she's ordering the State Labor Department and DMV to clear the red tape from getting a commercial driver's license to help the school bus driver shortage around New York. The governor says the state is reaching out to more than half-a-million drivers who already have CDL licenses, asking if they're willing to become bus drivers. In the long term, the state is changing the training required for licensing a school bus driver, and recruiting with currently unemployed drivers plus organizations including the military that have trained drivers.
