RCSD Finalizing Deal With RTS Ahead Of First Day Of School

The Rochester City School district is working with Rochester Regional Transit Service to get some students to and from school.

The start of classes has been pushed back to Thursday, while the plans are being worked out.

The district is down nearly 100 bus drivers.

Hundreds of families within one-and-a-half miles of schools 10, 17 and 22 have been told their bus routes have been eliminated.

Some students will have to walk to school, get rides or start classes on remote. And the district is working to provide bicycles and helmets to students to get to school.

Another school board meeting is set for 5:30 today, and a community meeting is planned for tomorrow.

Four city R-Centers will have extended hours Wednesday for families who expected their children to be in school then.
