Monroe County Sheriff Baxter Expresses Concern About NY's Bail Reform Laws

Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter is expressing more concern about the state's bail reform law.

Baxter is calling for pre-conviction detention of violent criminals who have shown a tendency to re-offend.

In a statement on social media, Baxter cites the case of Tywayne Ivery, of Rochester, who was arrested for murder last December.

Ivery was released on a $100,000 bond and is awaiting trial.

But on August 13th, he was accused of waving a gun at a woman and her daughter. Last Wednesday, he led marshals on a chase and drew an illegal gun. He was released on $25,000 bail. His murder bail was revoked Thursday and he was re-arrested Saturday.
