U.S. Senator Schumer Calling for Faster Federal Rent Relief for New Yorkers

Senator Schumer is urging New York state to move faster to get federal rent relief to people who need it.

Schumer has sent a letter to the state agency that will be distributing the cash -- the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance.

He says the more than $2 billion he secured for the state cannot be delayed any further. The state's eviction moratorium is scheduled to end at the end of August.

As of the end of June, New York was one of only two states that had given out none of the federal rent relief money.
