Work is about to begin on a facelift for the Thruway service areas.
The buildings will be updated with new restaurants and amenities.
Plans call for 23 of the 27 buildings to be rebuilt -- and four will be renovated.
The first ten buildings will close July 29, but the gas pumps will remain open.
When finished, the service areas will have electric charging stations, showers and laundry facilities for truckers, play areas and an assortment of familiar chain restaurants.
